Swan and the Bear by Eve Langlais
Swan And The Bear by Eve Langlais
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Since Miranda and Ethan defeated the mastermind behind the abductions and experimentation he's hellbent on revenge. But getting to the crazy bunny and her grumpy bear has proved near impossible. So he sets his sights on the next best thing....Ethan's brother Mason.
As an undercover agent, Mason's mission is to protect the shifter community and by extension the lovely chocolate swan Jessie. She's the tech wiz of the FUC and is in danger since the evil mastermind is suddenly after her. But Jessie doesnt want his type of protection. She's knows he's a ladies man and doesnt do one-night-stands. But after spending quality time with him, her defenses are breaking and realizes this sexy bear is quite irresistible.
What I loved about this was Mason's willingness to convince Jessie that he was serious about her. He constantly chased her, and annoyed her it was quite entertaining! Sometimes I just wanted to slap her though. She just didnt get it and was so insecure...but whatevs! It made for an entertaining and delightful story.
All in all, I thought it was great. Not as good as the last one. Maybe since Jessie was more like a damsel in distress compared to Miranda....who was totally kick ass and hilarious! But it was a good and satisfying read. Can't wait to find out whats next in the FUC world....

Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James
Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This begins were Fifty Shades of Grey left off. Ana's decided that she can't take Fifty's debachery and has left him. Unfortunately, its left her bereft, misearble!
In my mind’s eye, I visualize Christian’s face the last time I saw him as I left his apartment. His tortured expression haunts me. I remember he didn’t want me to go, which was odd. Why would I stay when things had reached such an impasse? We were each skirting around our own issues—my fear of punishment, his fear of... what? Love?
In this addition to the trilogy we understand the method to Christian's madness. And we also see Christians willingness to try to have a "vanilla" relationship with Ana.
He wants the light, but can I ask him to do this for me? And don’t I like the dark? Some dark, sometimes. Memories of the Thomas Tallis night drift invitingly through my mind. “But what about punishments?” “No punishments.” He shakes his head. “None.”
But what I found frustrating was Christian and his smothering of Ana and of Ana not listening to Christian when all he wanted was her safety. Catch 22 and all that...lol!
But seriesouly, there was an intance in this story where Ana's boss was being entirely too toucy feely and down right rude to her and she thought she could handle it herself! I was like come on now...tell ur man! I think that E.L. James does a phenomenal job with feeling all that these characters feel. I felt as if I was there with them. I got to laugh and cry with Ana and Christian as well as fan myself cuz of the steamy scenes with these two. In addition to Christian and Ana trying to make their relationship work, one of Christian's submissive has gone rogue and is a threat to Ana. Once they finally find her, Fifty has to use his Dom skills to bring the girl back to reality and its just too much for Ana. She keeps doubting herself and thinks that she's not what Christian needs....which is really sad when you think about it cuz Christian needs Ana more than she knows. When Ana tries to leave....
“You can’t go. Ana, I love you!”
“I love you, too, Christian, it’s just—”
“No... no!” he says in desperation and puts both hands on his head. “Christian...”
“No,” he breathes, his eyes wide with panic, and suddenly he drops to his knees in front of me, head bowed, long-fingered hands spread out on his thighs. He takes a deep breath and doesn’t move.
What? “Christian, what are you doing?” He continues to stare down, not looking at me.
“Christian! What are you doing?” My voice is high-pitched. He doesn’t move.
“Christian, look at me!” I command in panic. His head sweeps up without hesitation, and he regards me passively with his cool gray gaze—he’s almost serene... expectant.
Fuck... Christian. The submissive.
There are so many heart wrenching moments in this book, you'll just have to read to experience. And also that dreaded meeting with the woman that got Fifty started in BDSM. I think this series is something you'll either love or hate. Im definitely one of those who falls in the love category. Definitely a great read and Im dying to get the final book in this trilogy to see where James takes us next in the intriguing world of Ana and Fifty!

Teaser Tuesday
Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
1. Grab your current read.
2. Open to a random page.
3. Share two 'teaser' sentences from somewhere on that page.
4. Add the title and Author's name too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR pile.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO ADD SPOILERS______________________
This week my Teaser comes from a wonderful Urban Fantasy series that Im reading, The Renfield Syndrome. Its the second book in the Rhiannon's Law series by J.A.Saare. Its dark and gritty, the protaganist in this series totally kicks ass and the males(yes males) are smokn hot...defintely a must read!
Vampires, and werewolves, and demons, oh my.
Rhiannon thought facing off against a deranged child vampire was the most dangerous task she would ever have to undertake, but she’s about to discover making a deal with a demon is far, far worse. Sent forward into another reality, one in which vampires are now dominating nearly extinct humans, she realizes the sooner she returns to her vampire lover, Disco, the better.
Unfortunately, time changes a lot of things; including those most trusted around her. When she’s faced with a loss and betrayal unlike any she has ever known, her focus shifts from severing the debt between the demon that wants to kill her, to exacting a revenge that will bring forth consequences she never could have fathomed. By reaching out to the darkness lingering within her, she’ll find the strength to push forward despite the circumstances that would see her dead and buried.
After all, when it’s all said and done, all that she has left to lose is her soul.

Jennifer was waiting when I opened the door, half-changed. Her furred face went from furious to confused when I exited the room with Sonja. She growled, and I stopped her with a gentle hand on her arm.
“Don’t. It isn’t necessary. Trust me.” Her baffled look didn’t stop me as we all descended the stairs—necromancer, werewolf, and poltergeist. When we came to the circle, I entered it, opened the metal door to the pet cage, and pulled out the dirt-infested cat by the scruff of the neck. I wasn’t sure what I expected, but thankfully Sonja made things easy. She didn’t fight when I walked out of the circle and lifted the cat into the air, holding it so their eyes could meet. The moment she started to dissipate, I retrieved the knife from my pocket.
The cat went wild as Sonja entered its body, scratching at my arms, but it couldn’t avoid the knife that severed the artery at its throat. When Sonja was fully trapped inside the host of something I could control, I started working the blade through the bone, grateful I’d taken Paine’s blood and my strength had increased. “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Return to the hereafter from whence you came. God have mercy on your soul.”

Early Review of Shadow Heir
Shadow Heir by Richelle Mead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Review posted on VanesMateTheBookaholic
In this final installment of the Dark Swan series, Eugenie is about 5 months pregnant with the twins. She's been hiding from that asshole Kiyo and that beeznatch Maiwenn and secretly trekking to the doctors in the human world. Realizing what she's doing is just too dangerous for the twins, Roland sets her up with a shaman friend of his in Alabama so she can finish the remainder of her pregnancy in peace and safety. Yes....Alabama. What I loved about the theory, once she got down there, was the relaxation and sereneness of the place. The Reeds were the most loving and accepting couple. And Eugenie really needed that. I understood her wanting to stay there once the twins were born. But she soon got her shit together when she found out the whole Otherworld was experiencing a blight and left the twins with the Reeds.
I loved the fact that this was not soley about her and her pregnancy. I was sucked in right away....Richelle Mead has a way of doing that to ya:) Once Eugenie gets back to her kingdoms she realizes how bad it is. Everything is covered in snow and ice, her people are dying and starving. its just the worst possible scenario. One of my favorite parts of this books is with my buddy Volusian. In a meeting with Dorian and the others she asks Volusian if he thinks Varia, Queen of Yew Land was responsible for the blight and if he knew how to stop it. True Volusian style....he tells her yes! I just thought it was hilarious since all he had to do was tell her or Dorian a month ago. But whats the fun in that???
"....Why the hell didn't you tell someone sooner?"
I couldn't be certain, but I thought I saw the tiniest shrug of Volusian's shoulder.
"Because, mistress," he said. "You never asked."
So, on with the adventure. Eugenie, Dorian, Jasmine, Pagiel, Rurik and my pal Volusian...off to the Yew Land to stop the evil Queen whose delusions of grander has her to believe she can stop the blight on the lands if Eugenie and Dorian accepting her rule.
What else can I say, but I loved it! It was a great conclusion to a great series. Even though Im kinda iffy on the decisions Eugenie made but it was still a surprising end. There a lot of secrets revealed, Eugenie kicks ass. Dorian is his usual snarky self with a new attitude that made me love him even more. This is definitely high in my top 5, favorite Urban Fantasy series and its all because of Mead and the way she has you fall in love and sometimes hate with her characters that you just can help to want to read more about. I would love for her to revisit this world and just give us a little more. Can't wait to find out what great series she has up her sleeve now!
***Thank you soo much to Christen for providing this ARC...hopefully I can return the favor someday:) And you too Cat for passing it down to muah!***
