Latin Lovers Anonymous

XO, Blake by Avery Aster

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

For fans of the dark comedy BDSM film Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down comes an erotic exploration in domination and submission where Ivy League students let their naughtiest desires run wild…

If you think my besties Lex, Taddy, and Vive have had some bad luck earlier this year, cut to me at Glamorama. Last thing I remembered was dancing with Diego and Miguel from my English class, when the room started… spinning. And not in a good way! We got sick. Think Regan in The Exorcist. Taddy was rushed to the hospital. Holding on for dear life, I was carried out by the boys and taken back to their dorm.

Now I’m waking up in Diego’s bed and Miguel keeps staring at me from across the room. I’ve wanted to get into these dudes’ pants since the first day of class. But Diego told me he likes to be tied up and—wait for it—spanked. WTF! The news on TV reports that last night we all got roofied. And Vive just texted me saying that someone is out to kill her. Could this semester get any more bizarre? -–Blake Morgan, college freshman, gay best friend, virgin

The Undergrad Years is a new adult contemporary miniseries about first loves, independence, and everlasting friendships.

MY THOUGHTS....
In this latest installment of the awesome Undergrad spinoff, it's Blake's turn. Unfortunately it's the story of his train wreck of a relationship with Diego. I, like the rest of the Mannattanites....loathe Diego! He was a con artist, a gold digger and an asshole! I really wanted him to end up with Miguel. He's such a sweetie. That said, I'm dying to read the next Manhattanite book that follows Blake post-MLD!

All in all, I loved it! Fantastic book. Awesome cast. Hot and steamy....I'm addicted. I'm eagerly anticipating more from this author. Both the Undergrad and Manhattanite series' are winners in my book!

Naughty Naughty Student.....

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was approved by the publisher to receive this book for an honest review....That said; I absolutely loved it! In this tale, filled with steaming hot sex. Stephen Worthington is a college professor that has singular tastes. He's not very adventurous in bed nor does he have much experience in that department, which is why it bothers him so much that his student Julia is so irresistible to him. It's hilarious to read how he fights his feelings for her tooth and nail since she's his complete opposite. What I loved about this story, is that we have this role reversal. Instead of the usual student/teacher forbidden relationship, where the teacher is in a place of power, it's the complete opposite. Although Julia is younger and his subordinate, she's experienced and is a woman who knows exactly what she wants and she gets it.

All in all, I loved it.....as expressed above! Not only am I dying to read the next book in this series, SJ Hooks is going in my author auto buy pile! Awesome story....5 stars!

Iced up!

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning comes the first book in her hotly anticipated new urban paranormal trilogy, set in the world of her blockbuster Fever series.

The year is 1 AWC—After the Wall Crash. The Fae are free and hunting us. It’s a war zone out there, and no two days are alike. I’m Dani O’Malley, the chaos-filled streets of Dublin are my home, and there’s no place I’d rather be.

Dani “Mega” O’Malley plays by her own set of rules—and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the rare humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks—and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin—before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

My Review:

Iced (Fever, #6; Dani O'Malley, #1)Iced by Karen Marie Moning
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It was so awesome! Dancer is the shit and I really hope Dani stops being a pussy and talk to Mac! If she did she'd realize that Mac has forgiven her and knows that Rowena used her mojo to make Dani kill her sister. I love Mac and Dani together and Dani really needs Mac...she's like the mother/sister she's never had. She needs structure in this mad mad world.

Also....I really feel bad for Christian. Mac really fucked up when she gave him Unseelie...even though she believed she was saving his life. Poor Christian needs to not blame Mac for his condition she not known what she was doing. I really hate what he's becoming! He was really one of my favorite side characters and now he's a depraved, pedo-Unseelie Prince in transition and I loathe it. Since I listened to this on audio, it was quite disturbing hearing his inner monologue when thinking of 14year old Dani....wtf!

In addition....Alls I can say is RYODAN!! You can summon me to your office and bend me over your desk Any. Time. I daresay I'm leaning toward Ryo over Barrons....never though I would EVER feel that way but there it is in black and white. He's so much more feral and wild and I. Dig. It....fo sho!

All in all, I loved every second of this book!  Fantastic start to a series which I always new it would be! Karen Marie Moning is one of the most talented authors in this genre...probably all genres. I'm fucking DY-ING to read the next book in this series. Hopefully Dani inadvertently grows up a couple of years cuz call me crazy, but I want some kind of down n dirty moment with her and Ryodan. I really like Dancer and all but he's more of her best friend and/or someone for her to experiment with...although Ryodan and Christian will probably kill him....tehee! Great book, awesome on audio, I love Dani more now....didn't think I would, but there it is.

Slaying Demons and taking Names

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It would never be better than this. Better than him. Reyes was the apex. It was all downhill from here. He was heaven and hell at once, angel and demon. I wondered how long I could keep him. How long I could call him mine.

I know I probably say this about every freakn Charley Davidson book but fuck it...Best of the friggin series! Charley is just straight up awesome sauce, Reyes was his usual oh so sexy self and I just couldn't put this thing down! Ignored everyone in my house and delved into the world of Charley and the gang!

Last time we saw Charley she was in pretty bad shape, being the victim of torture by the hands of that evil bastard Earl Walker. Now its two months later and she's still licking her wounds, hasn't left her apartment since that horrific day and has become obsessed with....**gasp** the Home Shopping Network of all things. Although she has a case of PTSD she still hasn't lost her sarcastic, and amusing quips. Cause come on....this is Charley we're talking about here!

"You're wrong. I'm not mad at myself. I'm great. I'm full of awesome sauce. Have you seen my ass?"

More drama ensues as we find out that in addition to her PTSD, mixed feelings for the enigmatic Reyes and Daddy issues, the Demons are coming for her. Earl's torture has changed Charlie dramatically, the once fearless vixen has since become terrified. So much so that she's not only become agoraphobic, but is sleep deprived and reeks of fear. Which is tantalizing to the Demons and are taking drastic measures to get her. Of course Reyes is having none of that as he hunts down the bastards responsible one filthy demon at a time.

In addition, Charley is taking on an intersting case, being hired by a girl who believes someone is trying to kill her. No one in her family believes her and this particular case hits home for Charley. The girl, Harper, is being stalked and has been terrorzied her entire life. Harper's bitchy and upitty stepmother harbors resentment toward the poor girl. As Charley investigates she begins to suspect the stepmother as the instigator in her plight.

“See. She is completely unstable. When she finally deigned us with her presence, she said she had been on the run for her life. Of all the ludicrous…” Mrs. Lowell shifted in irritation. “And now she hires a private investigator? She has gone over the edge.” I wrote the word psycho in my notebook, then scribbled it out before she saw. I was letting my own biases guide me on this case, and that would get me nowhere. Taking a mental step back, I took a deep breath and tried to see this from Mrs. Lowell’s perspective, as difficult as that might be. I didn’t often identify with rich bitches, but they were people, too. Weren’t they?

One of the things I loved most about this particular book was the progress of Charley and her sister Gemma. I love that the've reconciled and Gemma plays a big part in this one as she's trying to help Charley heal from her horrid ordeal. There were also some great dialog between the two especially the aftermath of the Maragita party she and Cookie had while trying to get Charley to get some rest.

Have you seen my pants?”

“Speaking of which, how did you get home without them?”

“I borrowed a pair of your sweats. I ran into a convenience store with them on. I talked to neighbors out in their yard when I pulled up. And only after I got inside did I realize they had ‘Exit Only’ written across the back.”

“You stole my favorite sweats?”

“I wanted to die.”

“It’s weird that sweats would make you suicidal. I’d analyze the crap out of that if I were you.”

Charley and Cookie together are a riot! She's the perfect contrast to Charley and her humor and their banter is just priceless! One should always have a friend like Cookie....I just love her!

“So, how was your day?”

“Well, I was in a bank robbery, taken hostage by the Gentlemen Thieves, almost arrested as an accessory, and had one of the most interesting evenings of my life. Speaking of which, did you know the nectar of the gods is in my va-jay-jay?”

It really takes a special person to deal with Charley and her off the wall comments and crazy antics. I swear I'll die when this series has to end....

Now back to the real issue at hand...Reyes! Since our fuckalicous hunk is out of the slammer, he's not only taking down demons and watching Charley in the shadows. Finally in a position to claim his woman, our boys not pulling any punches.

“There is a fine line between love and hate, or haven’t you heard? Sometimes it’s hard to decipher exactly which emotion is strongest.”

I raised my chin. “I don’t love you either.”

He lowered his head and watched me from underneath his dark lashes. “Are you certain? Because the emotion pouring out of you every time I’m near you is certainly not disinterest.”

“That doesn’t mean it’s love.”

“It could be, I promise you. Take off that sweater and give me ten minutes, and you’ll believe beyond a shadow of a doubt you’re in love.”

There are lots of smexy interactions with Charley that just had me panting for more and Charley doesn't stand a chance against his charms. And who does she think she's fooling? She knows she can't resist Reyes...who the hell could or would in any capacity? I know I wouldn't.

“For one week, all I could think about was drinking margaritas--well, that and running my tongue along Reyes's teeth--but I didn't have salt--or Reyes's teeth. I'd also lacked the energy to leave my apartment to get some--or the desire to stoop low enough to beg Reyes to let me lick his teeth after what he did--so I could only wish for a margarita. And dream of Reyes's teeth."

All in all, fanfuckingtastic addition to the series! Losts of action, drama and a sex scene that had me panting like a schoolgirl! If you're a fan of the series, get your asses out there and get this book! It really is the best so far and each book just gets better and better! I am dying to get my hands on
Fifth Grave Past the Light. Charley and Reyes are the epitome of most epic couple eva!!

He turned onto his side, rested his head on an arm, and put a large hand across my belly. With a mischievous grin that transformed his handsome face into that of an angel’s, he asked, “Do you know where the gods keep their nectar?”

I narrowed my eyes in suspicion, and said, “No idea.”

His hand slid down my stomach and between my legs. I sucked in a sharp breath as he leaned in and whispered in my ear, “Let me show you.”

After two more explorations of our stamina, a shared roast beef sandwich, a shower, and another exploration of our stamina, we lay on my bed, entangled in sheets and towels. Reyes wrapped me in his arms and was almost asleep when I said, “Who knew that all this time the nectar of the gods was in my va-jay-jay?”

Fae Love, Mages and Claws...Oh My!

Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Once he had scorched the world.

Once he had driven back overwhelming darkness.

Once he had loved with such passion, his name was legend...

Tairen Soul

Now a thousand years later, a new threat calls him from the Fading Lands, back into the world that had cost him so dearly. Now an ancient, familiar evil is regaining its strength, and a new voice beckons him - more compelling, more seductive, more maddening than any before.

As the power of his most bitter enemy grows and ancient alliances crumble, the wildness in his blood will not be denied. The tairen must claim his truemate and embrace the destiny woven for him in the mists of time.

Loudly, proudly, tairen sing, As they soar on mighty wings. Softly, sadly, mothers cry To sing a tairen’s lullabye.
~The Tairen’s Lament, Fey Nursery Rhyme

To me this book was awesome and I cannot believe Ive waited so feckn long to read it! Ranier scorched the world a thousand years ago, since the evil Eld Mages murdered is e'tan(mate of the heart). Now that he's recovered he soon finds his Shei’tan(truemate or soulmate). Which is unheard of since his Shei'tani is a mortal! War is upon them...Ranier can feel that the once extinct Mages of Eld are emerging and darkness will rein. The fae must do all that they can to prevent them from taking power!

Elysetta Baristoni, of Celeria has never been acecpted in her world! On her way to spinster status her parents are forcing her to marry the disgusting and conniving Den Brodson.

“Den?” Ellie repeated with dismay. Den Brodson, the butcher’s son, was a stuffed pork roast of a young man. And ever since his first wife had died in childbirth six months ago, he’d been following Ellie around like a starving hound on the trail of a juicy steak. He’d made a habit of catching her in dark corners, standing so close she could smell the reek of onions and bacon on him, and looking too intently down the neckline of her dresses as if he could see straight through the fabric to the soft curves beneath. His thick fingers were ever clutching at her arm, as if he had some right to her. She shuddered.

Ely...out of options since Den overpowers her after dinner and places a mark on her, she must marry the twerp! Fortunately for her she inadvertantly calls out to the Fey'Reisen and she soon finds out they she is his truemate or Shei'tani. Upon meeting Rain, she's terrified. He's the one who scorched the world afterall but he also stirs something in her and he becomes her salvation and vice versa.

Beautifully and fearfully wrought, by dread magic splendored, With passion’s fire his soul does burn, in sorrow his name be whispered. —from the epic poem Rainier’s Song by Avian of Celieria.

Now that Ely is promised to the snake of the fucking century, Den Brodson, Ely can't mate to Rain and he is pissed. Since he feels that fey law trumps Celeirian law, Ely is his. Being the last of the Tarien soul left and the only one to have a truemate its imperative that King Dorian and Queen Annora of Celeiria side with him. In addition, the tairen, magical, winged cats of the Fading Lands—had only one fertile female left in their pride, and she grew weaker by the day as she fed her strength to her six unhatched kitlings. According to the Eye of Truth, Ely is their last hope to cure the dying kitlings and save the pride.

I absolutely fell in love with this book! The dialog is beautiful and melodic and the story is fantastic. The characters are so intriguing and I just could not stop reading(or listening), Ha! If you're looking for a great fantasy/paranormal romance that you can sink you're teeth into then by all means, give this a go! You won't be sorry, I'm definitely going to fly through this series and will be doing a reread...thats for damn certain!

Ely starts out as a plain and dutiful daughter with an inner strength that she's at times afraid to show. Her mother is extremely close minded and prejudice against magic and all things fey. Since Ely has magic and is promised to the king of the fey she's in denial about her heritage and her magical abilities. But Rain soon brings her out of her shell and shows her that its ok to use magic and to not be afraid to be herself. Rain becomes enamored of Ely from the beginning and is extremely protective. He really goes to great lengths to see to her safety and most importantly her happiness. I just loved it!!

I loved the beautiful language of the fey and the politics are so intriguing! Really I cannot stress how much I love this book! I think, if you're a fan of fantasy novels and cute and mushy paranormal romances, then you'll just gobble this one up...I know I did! Oh!!! And did I mention that I loved the POV of the villians in the story?? I know for me most books in 3rd person, they drag complete ass with the villian plots and storyline(BDB ::ahem::, sorry Warden but it is what it is), I found myself looking forward to those breaks in the tale and was vastly entertained! Oh and Belliard vel Jelani, Chatokkai: First General. Leader of all Fey armies. He really plays an integral part in Ely's emersion in the world of the fey and she saves him from a lifetime of torment. Once a warrior sees so much war and carnage he becomes desinsitized and numb. Never finding love and fulfillment and inevitably becomes a Dahl'Reisen(lost soul) which is dishonorable amongst the fey or Sheisan’dahlein, the fey honor death. Unknowingly, Ely heals Bel using spirit and he pledges to protect her for all time. He's also Rain's bestfriend and they're banter is funny as hell at times, its really great to see the once reclusive Rainer express his lighter side. Rain has entered uncharted territory, courting a mortal woman in Celeiria is not something that he's well versed at and Rain doesn't do uncertainty well.....

Rain drew in his breath at the sudden rush of feelings that sprang from the simple feel of her skin meeting his. The strength of his connection to this young Celierian went so far beyond what he had felt for Sariel, he could hardly fathom it. She was so young, so incredibly new to the world and to him, and yet regardless of the cost to his soul, Rain would destroy anyone and anything that dared to stand between them. And if any dared to harm her, he would shred them without mercy and dance as he drank their blood. Ellysetta misunderstood the fierce look on his face, because she snatched her hand back and apologized for touching him.

Ellysetta misunderstood the fierce look on his face, because she snatched her hand back and apologized for touching him. “Nei, do not apologize.” Rain could barely restrain himself from reaching for that hand and
putting it back on his skin. His fingers itched to do so, and he clenched them into fists. He craved her touch, ached for it as only a Fey warrior could. But admitting to his need was the same as admitting a weakness, something a Fey rarely did willingly. “I was merely surprised. You may touch me if you like.”

But she didn’t lay that sweet hand upon him again. He cursed his own unguarded reaction that had cost him such a small but much-desired pleasure and wondered how he might contrive to get it back. He bent his head to her, his gaze intent as he willed her to touch him again. To his disgruntlement, she did not. Laughter sounded in his mind. Laughter he recognized but had not heard in any form for centuries. «Bel?» He turned to his old friend in disbelief. Though to most, the solitary Fey would still appear blank as a wall, Rain knew better. Bel’s dark eyes glinted with amusement, and the grim stoicism of his face was less pronounced. There was even the faintest crinkling at the corners of his eyes—humor struggling to find expression. «If you could see yourself, Rain. Pouting like a tzicaida whose lunch just got away.» The corner of Bel’s mouth actually twitched. «You could always just command her to put her hand back on you.»

All in all, Awesome fecking book. Must read!!! Beylah vo C.L. Wilson for creating such an extraordinary world! Ke vo'san!!

My beloved is the sun And I am the earth that thrives only in her warmth. My beloved is the rain And I am the grass that thirsts for her quenching kiss. My beloved is the wind And I am the wings that soar when she fills me with her gentle strength. My beloved is the rock Upon which rests the happiness of all my days. —The Elements of Love, a poem by Aileron v’En Kavali of the Fey-

Review: The Ripple Effect by J.A.Saare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rhiannon's Law #18: No one asks for their life to change, but it does. The bad things we face are tests created to separate the strong from the weak. Once you've found your place--as the savage lion or the tranquil lamb--it's up to you to take the next step, to decide what comes after. Even if it means destroying everything in your path on the road to deliverance.

How is it possible that this series can get better?? With a heroine like Rhiannon Murphy it's inevitable! Since she changed the future in Renfield Syndrome, all is not well in Rhia's world. After Disco's betrayal of her trust and the wild night of passion she shared with Paine still fresh in her mind, Rhiannon must face some hefty consequences. Disco is looking for redemption, his maker is coming to town to force Rhiannon to hand over Sucker(the demon killing blade). Now Rhiannon is beginning to understand that Disco and Paine have sheltered her away from the more dangerous aspects of being in a vampire family.

Its a race against time and if she doesn't hand over Sucker they are all in for a world of hurt! Marius is  not one to be trifled with and neither is they're Demon maker Revenald. She'll soon learn that crossing him will assign her a fate worse than death. And to top it all off, she's made a pact with fallen angel Marigold Vesta. She must restore her to power or Rhiannon will serve as her host.

Rhiannon's Law #28: If you're going to fuck up, be sure to fuck up good and proper. Nothing makes failure acceptable, so you might as well make your misery count.

Basically it's a catch 22. She needs Sucker for protection against her enemies and if she gives it up, she's as good as dead. And if she doesn't give it up to her Master, she'll wish she was dead. Her love life isn't all roses either. Paine is in love with her. Disco wants her back and feels like shit for betraying her the way he did and Rhiannon just can't seem to find it in her heart to forgive him even though she really wants to. But when the time finally comes, will it be too late? And more importantly; Is this Ripple Effect business real....it sure seems like it.

All in all, this was a fantastic addition to the series! It still had its funny flair that I fell in love with and its dark and twisted suspense.

"I've been watching over you."

"Where I'm from, it's the same thing. Stalking isn't cool unless you're an Edward."

The Demons of this world are really some sick bastards that actually gave me nightmares. This series really does have everything that I love; dark humor, steamy sex, betrayal of the worst kind, a heroine I can relate to and can kick major fucking ass! It's definitely one of the best Urban Fantasy series out there. I really hope people stop pirating her work so she can continue this series. It really is an awesome urban fantasy tale thats a love story at heart.

Love didn't come with a guarantee. That's what made it so special, so cherished--so rare. You believed in the truth of your heart, even at its worst, because you had no other choice.

Review: The Dead I Owe

The Dead I Owe by Julie Ann Michaels
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Destined for greatness in the corporate world, Olivia Dahl's only regret is that an ideal love life eludes her. After crossing paths with the irresistible vampire, Benjamin Ward, Olivia is propelled into the middle of a demon invasion and forced to rely on the vampire that took her life. Olivia fights to save the city from being overrun by demons while resisting her unyielding attraction to Benjamin.

Together, can they stop a demon invasion? Can Olivia learn to forgive the Vampire that changed her life forever?

In a world of vampires, demons, and heady revelations, Olivia struggles to find new purpose.

This was a great and fast paced read! I recieved this from the author and the blurb looked good enough to give it a go. Boy am I glad I did!

After a date with Mr.Wrong, Olivia's sick of being alone. But finding "The One" is not as easy as she thought. Meeting the sexy Benjamin after her unimpressed date gives her hope that there are some great guys out there, unfortunately when she wakes up the next morning she realizes Benjamin has turned her into a vampire then she's thrust into a war between the vamps and demons! A chance meeting with Olivia and never in his wildest dreams did he intend for her to be his progeny. All he wanted to do was get some nookie and some blood and be on his merry little way but he never intended on enjoying her company then losing control.  Now he's got a sexy, foul mouthed and headstrong, baby vampire to take care of along with a war between Demons and Vampires. Him and those of his brethren are the only ones who stand in the way of Demons enslaving humans and becoming a scourge of the earth. Demons drink the blood of humans as well but the problem is, thats its an addiction to them and they almost always kill their victims, whereas vampires need humans to survive so they tend not to kill their victims. There's change erupting in the underworld, the heir to the throne is hiding in the human realm and the current ruler of the Demons is after her and wants her dead so he can continue to rule. Unfortunately she believes she is human and since her powers have yet to emerge she's a sitting duck until that happens. Now its up to Olivia and Ben to find her and protect her before the Demons get to her because she's the only one who can stop the Demons from crossing over into the human realm. The problem is...when she realizes who she is, will she want to close the gates and stop them from taking over the human realm?

All in all, I greatly enjoyed this read and am eagerly anticipating the next book in this series! I recommend this to all Paranormal Romance fans!

Review: Bared to you by Sylvia Day

Bared to You by Sylvia Day
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Published April 3rd

Our journey began in fire...

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness-beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily... Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds... and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

At first I gave this book 4 stars...dunno why! There have been a lot of comparisons between this book and Fifty Shades of Grey. Christian Grey is a billionaire, is sexy, enigmatic, has a dark past and enjoys sex toward the dark of nature....in my opinion, thats where the similarities cease. Gideon Cross is in a class all by himself, with his dark and brooding demanor and drop-dead sexiness! He's a sex maniac but only with Eva and though he enjoys that sex in a dominating nature he doesn't delve into the inflection of pain as our favorite Dom, 50! Although both of these alphalicious sex Gods come from difficult backgrounds they are vastly different. During the story of Eva and Gideon we get a glimpse into his plethra of issues, he's controlling but in no way as ridiculous as our boy Christian. Gideon realizes that he needs Eva on such a fundamental level and it freaks him the freak out that he's that dependent on someone for his sanity.

Eva is a very likable character. She's no damsel,  not a virgin...at all and is a well off independent woman in her own right! I loved that about this book. Gideon lavished her with expensive gifts and didn't have to fight with her to take them...like someone we know(Ana)! She has a dark past of her own which makes it difficult for her to trust and having a controlling and mercial man like Gideon is a tough pill to swallow but she learns to love him anyway. Another thing I loved was Cary, Eva's roomate and bi-sexual best friend. He contributed to the light and funny side of Eva's personality and made the whole story more interesting since Cary has his own shit he deals with as well! I don't want to give much away so Ill keep this review short so....

All in all, I absolutely loved it especially on audio! Sylvia Day hit a home run in my book. It was dark, sad and the sex scenes between Eva and Gideon were scortching hot! I recommend this to all the 50 fans and those that are not but love a great erotic romance with depth! I cannot wait to read more about this fantastic couple...they've got a long road to recovery!

Fire Burnin'

Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Released June 26th by Avon

"You think my blood is the only tie between us?"
His voice was low, yet edged with palpable hunger. It seemed to rub me in places I'd only ever touched before, making my anger fade under a flash of desire. Vlad was so close that his hair was a shadowy veil all around me, and when he began to caress my face with light, sure strokes, it was all I could do not to close my eyes in bliss.
"This is our true tie," he whispered, his breath falling hotly onto my lips. "You're meant for me, and I will have you."

A tragic accident leaves Leila disfigured and with supernatural powers where she can connect to someones past, present and future with just a mere touch as well as the power to channel electricity. Finding herself disowned by the only family she has and working as a sideshow freak in a carnival, Leila along with her best friend Marty, a midget vampire, she's starting to build a life for herself and survive the best way she knows how. But an accident at the local bar, her anonymity is threatened and is no longer just Frankie the carnie, she attracts the attention of some evil vamps that kidnap her and she's forced to locate the infamous Vlad.

Vlad Tepesh, master vampire and fierce protector of his line, he runs his vamps with an iron fist. But a chance meeting with the lovely Leila, threatens his emotionless existence and awakens feelings believed to be long destroyed. Together with Leila its a race to uncover the vampire set out to destroy him. And now that he has Leila he's desperate to keep her by his side.

After finding out that Jeaniene Frost was adding another spin-off to her Night Huntress series and it featuring the sexy, cocksure, enigmatic Vlad I was ecstatic to say the least! But imagining it and reading it are two different things. In one word A-fucking-mazing! Vlad and Leila are more than I expected and I enjoyed every page of this book. As I read it in like a day.

Vlad was certainly a cocky bastard and Leila is a perfect counterpart for him. She's fierce, strong and totally kick ass! She was able to keep up with him physically and their banter was great. She's definitely a woman that knew how to get her way and fought for what she believed in. One of my favorite scenes is when she wanted to set a trap for the bigbad in the story, where she was trying to get Vlad on the same page....she tried her best to stroke his ego so-to-speak(not that she needed to..its already big enough as it is):

"Not Dracula," I said with a faint smile as I turned around. "Vlad Tepesh former viovode of Wallachia and the most arrogant, deadly, frightening man I've ever met."

His lips curled with disdainful amusement. "Compliments won't sway me more than the word please, Leila."

"You take those as complements?" Gretchen was incredulous.

"Of course." His smile bared fangs. "She named all my best qualities."

Not being able to touch anyone with out killing them and/or causing them serious harm, Leila has had to face some serious obstacles add that to knowing all the sins of those she's touched and everyday life for her is a struggle. But the through it all Leila still kept her spunk! All her challenges, she still had serious lady balls and I loved that about her. She was able to keep up with Vlad and his cockiness.

"You're hot, big deal," I shot back, refusing to let his knowledge of my most intimate thoughts daunt me. "I'm attracted to a lot of hot guys. If Chris Hemsworth were here, I'd light him up like a firecracker with how fast I'd jump on him."

"And that would kill him," Vlad noted.

Speaking of...Vlad was just wonderful! He was definitely his fierce, alphalicious self and I fell in love all over again! Fans of the Night Huntress series will just gobble this one up...I know I did! His self assuredness knows know bounds which made for an enjoyable read.

"If I didn't want you so much", he said in a deadly purr, "I'd let you keep fucking me with your gaze, but you're making me impatient."

All in all, awesome start to a series that has me begging for more. I found myslef laughing out loud and fanning myself on many occasions. Leila and Vlad are the best couple second to Cat and Bones and I'm dying to read more about these two....especially since we were left with a tantalizing line from dear Leila:

"Get ready, Vlad," I whispered into the empty room. "This is far from over."

Love Triangles n Cappuccino Stands....

Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens

ebook 546 pgs

Blurb: For almost two years now, Kiera's boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she's ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart.

Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source – a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he's purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes...and none of them will ever be the same.

My Review:
I greatly enjoyed this book, but I thought Kiera and Kellan were completely selfish....really all of them were to a certain extent! Kiera was too dependent on Denny. I understand being in love and your significant other and them being your world but, she really needed to get a fucking life. When Denny receives an opportunity to better his career he has to leave Kiera behind....with the sexy rock God Kellan Kyle. Kiera is devastated...like fall into a deep sea of despair....it was ridiculous! She had a job at the bar(where Kellan plays) and is a full time student, she had plenty to keep her busy but what does this dumbass do?? Fucks her boyfriends best friend because he took a job in another state. I get why she was pissed....especially since he takes it without even consulting her but she would have gotten over it. So this is where the train wreck that is Kiera and Kellan begin!

Don't get me wrong. Kiera and Kellan really do fall in love with each other....I believe it started to develop in Kellan's case before Denny even left the state but Kiera should have told Denny it was too late when he quit his job to come back to her. Yes! He drops everything, quits his dream job, comes home to her and after all of that....she still continues to see Kellan! It was just bad decision after bad decision. From Kellan treating Kiera like shit cuz she went back to Denny. Then making up and Kiera continually seeing Kellan behind Denny's back under the "illusion" that their relationship is innocent...which is ridiculous! It was just crazy!

"....and he groaned as our bodies pressed together again. "Stop it, Kiera," he snarled. "I need you. let me doi this. I can make you forget him. I can make you forget you."

I shuddered knowing he was exactly right."

It was apparent that Kiera was no longer in love with Denny. She was afraid of change and terrified of what life would be like with Kellan. Which is understandable since she has to deal with groupies all over her man constantly. But stringing them both along was just selfish on her part. Poor Kellan was in love with her and taking whatever scraps he could get from Kiera and poor Denny, after quitting his job, got stuck working for a complete ass and is completely miserable! Knowing all of this, the bitch still can't make a decision until its too late! In all honesty, I don't think she deserved either one of those guys!

Aside from the atrocious love triangle are a cast of characters that I just fell in love with. The D-Bags...local rock band with a lead singer to die for. Drop-dead gorgeous with intense eyes, just fucked hair, an alluring voice and a fabulous body....Kellan is every girls fantasy. Griffin...lead guitarist and a complete rake! He's a complete asshole and screws anything with legs....you just love to hate him. Evan and Matt crept their way into my heart as well along with the crazy groupies and the cougar bartender.

All in all, I loved it! Losts of heartbreak and betrayal, hot sex and rock n roll! My kinda party! To me this story is a prime example of what not to do around a hot rock God when you're vulnerable! Tequila shots with said rock God after your boyfriend fucks up...very ill advised! If you loved Sinners on Tour then you would love this is well!

Review: Effortless by S.C. Stephens

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"I don't know what I would do without you. I love you so much. But, if for some reason we're not closer, if something has come between us, please, I'm begging you...don't give up on me. Stay. Stay with me. Work it out with me. Just don't leave me...please."

If Thoughtless was about betrayal and loss then effortless is about growth and healing! Now that Kiera and Kellan are finally a couple, one would think that all would be perfect....yea right! The D-Bags are on their way to becoming a house hold name....with the awesome band now going on tour, Kellan and Kiera must face thier most challenging feat. Trust from long distance. Since the couple started thieir releationship with a betrayal it seems they may be doomed. But can their love for each other stand the strain? Can they get over their petty jealousies and grow the fuck up? Only time will tell it seems.....

This one was better than the first one in my opinion. Since the dynamic duo are faced with separation they must learn to trust one another. Kellan is scared that Kiera will turn to another in his absence since that's what she did to Denny. And Kiera is facing the green-eyed monster fighting off hordes of groupies. All the chicks love Kellan and its a constant struggle for her. But one thing that Im glad about and which was most surprising was Kiera's growth in this installment. She's started to learn from her mistakes by establishing her independence and not letting her and Kellan's relationship consume her. She actually got a feckn life...which was one of my pet-peeves in Thoughtless.

Another obsticle is while Kellan's dealing with the sucsess of his band he's also keeping something from Kiera....and she can sense it! It really is the wedge that gets between these too as Kiera is also keeping something big from Kellan. Although she does grow up a lot in this book she also does some dumb shit too....just because Kellan is keeping a secret doesn't mean that you should too. I understand why she kept it from him...since it probably would have drove Kellan back home but she should have trusted her relationship with Kellan and consulted him first!

One of the things I loved about this book was Kellan's letters to Kiera....it was like a treasure hunt with love notes! It was the cutest thing! I really got to feel the love he has for her which is insurmountable.

"I know that I've become one of those spouting, love-sick idiots, but what it all boils down to is three words that don't mean nearly enough...I love you."

Along with thier relationship woes, there's also forgiveness. Kiera needs to forgive her self for what she did to Denny and atone for it! They were bestfriends once and it's tough when you lose someone you love and care for even when you're the one who fragged up. I thought it was important that that happen and was glad that it did!

All in all, awesome book that I would definitely read again. Lots of surprises and closure to some things as well! Im dying to read the next book in this series to find out whats next with Kellan and Kiera! They have such great passion and an all consuming love for each other that is addictive to read about! Loving each other really is effortless....

"You...seared me. That's making love. That is something that none of them have over you. You are...unforgettable...and I love you."

Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Release Date: May 1, 2012

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

You know that book you read that you are so excited about that when you finish you run into your co-worker's office, book in hand, (Yes, I read on company time) and jump up and down until she gets off the phone and proceed to squeal with joy as she looks at you like she can't believe it's only 10:00 a.m. and you've already started drinking?....THIS IS THAT BOOK!!!!!
Photobucket

The story starts shortly after the ending of Divergent and Tris and "the gang" have fled from Abnegation and are on the run. After meeting up with the Factionless (who are surprisingly well organized), they decide to pay visit to the various other factions to see if they can drum up some kind of support to help in the war instigated by Erudite. While Tris is dealing with her feelings of guilt, loyalty, new love and a muriad of other conflicting feelings, their first stop is Amity (  AKA a Republican's worst nightmare). There they run into Marcus who lets them know that Erudite attacked Abnegation for a reason. A long time ago, Abnegation was entrusted with some extremely important information and Erudite wanted it. We do not find out this tidbit of info until the end of the book, but it's a doozy!!!!

Next stop, Candor... ( Side note: there is no way I could live here...If I had to be completely honest with my feelings about people I'd have zero friends and no job). There they run into Lynn, who has become one of my favorite characters in this book. While Tris is dealing with hostility from Christina and others over the death of Will, Lynn says the following line to Tris which cemented my respect for her:

" 'You are brave', she says.'You don't need me to say it, because you already know it.But I want you to know that I know.'
She is complimenting me, but I still feel like she has slapped me with something.
Then she adds, 'Don't mess it up!' "

I don't want to go into much more as there are many surprises along the way. However, I would be remiss in not mentioning Four/Tobias! God, I love this guy! Some of the sweetest moments occur between him and Tris. With the overwhelming gloom surrounding them, it makes it all the more precious. One of my favorite scenes between the two was this one:

" 'I love you', I say...........I am his and he is mine, and it has been that way all along.
He stares at me. I wait with my hands clutching his arms for stability as he considers his response.
He frowns at me. 'Say it again.'
'Tobias, I love you.' I say.
His skin is slippery with water and he smells like sweat and my shirt sticks to his arms when he slides them around me. He presses his face to my neck and kisses me right above the collarbone, kisses my cheek, kisses my lips.
'I love you, too,' he says.

I'm completely smitten with these two.

Insurgent ends in typical Veronica Roth fashion, with a cliffhanger. But a really, really good one, so it's impossible to be mad at her. I can't believe I have to wait another year for the final book, but if it's as good as this one then who cares.

Review: Bloodright by Karin Tabke

Bloodright by Karin Tabke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"You are much more than the woman i love; you are the mirror of my soul. We are one. The same."

Bloodright continues where Blood Law left off. With the Blood Law avenged, but not in the way Lucien has always wished. He takes Falon as his mate instead of killing her. Now Falon is whisked away to the Mondragon Pack with the rakish Lucien...but he's a temptation she is powerless to fight! Since the future of the Lycan race is in their hands she must become his mate and think of the Pack instead of herself. With the Blood Moon aproaching and the battle getting closer, Mondragon and Vulkasin must unite for them ever having a chance at defeating the Slayers.

This series really just set the bar for me! Lucien was so damned sexy and I found myself loving him more than Rafe. He really is misunderstood! And Falon...she really was just dumped into an impossible situation. She meets Rafe.... hellbent on sacrificing her to his brother for slaughter to rectify a blood feud she had nothing to do with....falling in love with Rafe. Then being offered up as a trophy to Lucien to be his mate.... then having to be his mate and put her feelings and broken heart aside for the good of the Lycan race. I really felt sorry for her especially knowing her feelings for Rafe and knowing that since the Blood Law was avenged he was to take another mate so Pack Vulkasin can flourish. Then her connection to Lucien grows deeper than she ever expected it to. And poor Lucien just wants someone to love him!

All in all, this was a great addition to the series and I cannot wait to find out what happens in the conclusion! I highly recommend this to fans of PNR...namely ones with shifters. This is a must read! I swear I gobbled it up in a day!

Review: Blood Law by Karin Tabke

Blood Law by Karin Tabke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"By all that is holy, Falon, how can I not want to make love to you when your body calls to mine? How can I not think of making love to you when I see your love for me shine in your eyes? Tell me, how am I not to think of the most sacred act between a man and a woman when I am with you?"
Hot tears burned her eyes. He kissed them away.
"My love, the day I stop thinking of having sex with you is the day you bury me."

Rafael and Lucien...twin brothers. One of light the other dark. Both...because of the slaughter of their parents when they were youths are both leaders of their pack. Upon returning from his spiritual request , Rafael discovers his brother under the thrall of a Slayer( the bane of their existence). Slayer's are magic wielding hunters of the Lycan kind and to lay with one is to die. Lucien has his heart set on marking the female Slayer as his mate but Rafe sees her for who she really is and murders rips our her heart while his brother is banging her.

Of course a huge battle between the brothers ensues and they almost kill each other. Lucien demands Blood Law...which means that once Rafe takes a mate she is Luciens to kill! An eye for an eye. So the division of the Packs has begun and the brothers are forever enemies. For years Rafe has refrained from taking a mate not wanting to give his brother the satisfaction. But a chance meeting with Falon has him torn. Time is running out...the final battle between the Slayers and the Lycans is fast approaching and the future of the entire Lycan  race is on Rafe's shoulders if he can sacrifice Falon to his brother.

I absolutely loved this book. Ima HUGE sucker for a good shifter book every since I read Shifter series by Rachel Vincent! But his one is way more steamier. The Lycan Lore in this world is pretty interesting. from the induction of the Slayers to the Packs as a unit. Since this blood feud between Rafe and Lucien Lycans are in danger of extinction. Since neither of them has taken a mate no others in the Pack can....the same goes for having children.

Rafe literally is backed against the wall. For 7years he's been adamant that his brothers would be mate was a Slayer. Lucien in his heart of hearts believes Rafe killed his mate, his love, so he can be the only Alpha. Then he meets Falon and initially is prepared to sacrifice her  so he can take a real Lycan mate and their Pack can flourish. But the more time he spends with Falon the more he starts to question giving her up!

Falon is no damsel by no stretch of the imagination. She's tough and has some nifty powers of her own. And once she learns of her proposed fate....she's not going down without a fight! I love that about her.

Lucien is not the only one who has his sights on Falon. Recognizing a fighter and a worthy mate in her own right but also wanting to get his revenge. An eye for an eye.

All in all, great start to a series that can also be in my top ten! It has everything a good PNR should have; hot, steamy sex scenes, intrigue, drama, blood, guts, Two Delicious Alpha Males, a Kick-Ass Alpha Female and a cliffhanger that will kill you!

Review: Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris

Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sookie's still living with her two fairy-kin. Someones trying to kill Sookie....big fucking surprise! She finds a secret letter from her Gran. Eric's hiding something, Pam is awesome, Bill still gets on my nerves....fucking pest! Victor is still around....Oh and Bubba makes an appearance!

THE END......

No seriously:

The first half of the book was uneventful...was like watching paint dry actually. But the last 100 pages or so were good...especially up til the end! I loved the battle at the end, nice and bloody! Eric was great...when he was around. I think my issues with this book is the dragging out with the fairy bullshit. I just wish the whole agenda gets resolved and whoever is really out to get Sookie will just get it done already!

What I found annoying was Sookie and her vacillating! She plans Victor's demise for how long? Then when the smoke clears she's "uneasy" about the results....actually pissed is more accurate. I just wish she would make up her mind and woman up! She's still her funny, sometimes bubbly self and at times judgmental. Especially when it came to Alcide....what he did was fucking dumb but saying that she didn't like who he has become....wah?? He's the head of his Pack....he has to have some kind of superiority...some swag! He can't be a push over still pinning for you, waiting for you to leave the fucking vamps alone can he??? I'm starting to question you Sookie......Hello!! Don't get me wrong...I do love Eric! And I want them to work. And Pam is just great but I just don't think they are conducive to her needs. Well what she believes she needs...a.k.a. family...kids, what not!

Although this was not one of my favorites of the series, Im still excited to find out where CH will take us with Sookie's story! Im PRAYING that Sookie doesn't end up with Sam! PLEASE PLEASE! Don't let it be that! I'm still holding out for Quin since at least he can give her kids and a normal lifel....for the most part.

Early Review: On Demon Wings by Karina Halle

On Demon Wings by Karina Halle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Expected Publication: May13th 2012
MetalBlonde Books
Thank You Karina Halle for bringing this fan-fucking-tastic series to my attention last year...you Rock!

"Perry," he said quietly, his fingers trailing down the side of my face, "you'll never have to save my life. You gave me life. I never lived a single day until the first day I met you."

At the end of Lying Season...I was litterally D-YING!! Being a huge supporter of Dex and Perry's relationship I wanted to KILL Dex when he did what he did..while also realizing his utter remorse soon after! All the push and pull and whatnot with those two is really makes this series quite feckin' entertaining. Add that to all the supernatural shit that goes on and you got a winner! On Demon Wings was definitely my favorite of the series! In this installment Perry goes through a lot of ups and downs, trying the heal and create a new life for herself sans Dex. Still seeing ghosts and trying to have a more positive look on life, Perry faces her most challenging battle to date. Her lows were so great in regards to her hear break it was heard to fathom at times. Karina Halle does a fantastic job of making you feel the hurt then the next thing you know....BAM! Some shit goes down and you're like..."What the fuck?!". I know when I went to the kitchen to get some water last night...I was freaking the freak out!!

One of the things I loved about this book was Perry and Ada's relationship...it was good to see them start to trust each other and count on one another. I really think Perry should listen to her lil sis more especially in regards to a certain someone...but I wont name cuz Im not gonna spoil nothing;) Said someone is a complete douchecanoe(God I love that word) if you ask me....but whatevs!

All in all, Winner winner chicken dinner, I say! I loved every second of it and was scared shitless to boot! Anytime you're thanking someone for creating something that Literally made you almost piss your pants is saying something! Alls Im saying is read this series at night....see where that gets you! But seriously...READ THIS BOOK....it really is the most original, scary, most fantastic, dark and gritty series out there! BTW...That cover is sick and it makes so much sense now!

".......You have every right to hate me for this lifetime and many others. You have every right to never see me again. To spit on my grave. But tonight, now, I'm not going to give up on you or," his voice fell with weight, "die trying."

Improper Relations by Juliana Ross

Improper Relations by Juliana Ross
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Published April 23rd
Carina Press

I know Emmy already reviewed this but I gotta post this per my terms with the publisher....so here's my view on this yummy story!!

A quiet night in the library for Hannah changed her life when she caught her sexy cousin(by marriage) pleasuring one of the maids. Being mortified by their debachery yet intrigued at the same time. Cousin Leo, then insists that he teach Hannah the sex can be enjoyable. Knowing only pain and discomfort in relation to sex, Hannah quite the skeptic until Leo shows her pleasure like no other. But Hannah never expected to fall for him. Now their secret affair is starting to become too much for her, especially when she finds out her Leo is arranged to be married.

I greatly enjoyed this little love story! Hannah was such as sad character at first but I felt a little spark in her dying to come out. She was always told by her mother that it was her duty to submit, would be unpleasant, but women had to bear such things as penance for their sinful nature. What a load of shite if you ask me. Hannah is a widow and is now a "caretaker" to her late husbands aunt....since her late hubby had too many debts and left her penniless. They're rich snobs who treat her like shit but she has to take it since she doesn't have anywhere else to go. The affair with Leo gives her an escape from all the madness and I defintely understood that! The story is so short so I don't wanna give away much else so....

All in all, a great short, but sweet tale about unconditional love. Fans of erotic romance will eat this up in a jiffy....I know I did!

Let Me In by Callie Croix

Let Me In by Callie Croix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Publication Date: May 21st 2012
Carina Press

"What are you going to do?" What I've wanted to do to you for almost two years. "Shhh. Let me in."

In this short and sweet novella Talia, who is a Marine, is coming home for Thanksgiving. Not ecstatic about her leave falling on Thanksgiving weekend, Talia's plagued with loneliness. To her surprise her best friend and her sex on wheels brother...Liam, picks her up from the airport and insist that she spend the holidays with them. Having a sick mother and embarrassed about her past, Talia has the wall put up around her. Not wanting to feel like a charity case, she doesn't realize that Liam's family adores her and is already part of the family.

Talia has been in love with Liam for a long time and doesn't feel that she's worthy. Liam has been adamant about them becoming more than friends but she puts up this lame excuse of not wanting to ruin their friendship or lose the only normal family thats she's known! But this time around, Liam is determined to change her mind and break down those walls of hers once and for all.....

I greatly enjoyed this story. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars had nothing to do with the writing or the author, it was just that I was sick and tired of Talia's self-loathing and stubbornness when it came to Liam and his family! I understood her misgivings for not wanting to be vulnerable around him and her embarrassment of her mother and her issues. But after a while it was exhausting! I mean come on....she's known the dude for a couple of years...his family as well, and she just wouldn't let them in. Didn't realize that they loved her as part of the family. It was obvious that Liam cared for her and wanted more than a physical relationship, but she didn't even want to give it a shot! She just wanted to do everything on her own. Not realizing that sometimes, you just need someone to lean on, to be there for you the best way they know how.

But other than that....the story was perfect. And was a great love story that pulled at my heart strings. Some scenes were a little hard because of what she's going through with her mother and I definitely can relate to that since one of my parents is an alcoholic and I know how she felt with wanting to walk away from her mother but not finding it in her heart to actually do it, no matter how shitty she treats her. There were also some smokin' hot interactions between Liam and Talia, they were just great! I would definitely read more from this author and can't wait to read that naughty little scene between Liam's threeway!! I recommend this to my girls that love some good 'ol erotic romance, you won't be disappointed.

She may offer her body eagerly, but can she protect her heart?
96,000 words

FYI>>> This review contains a quote of an erotic nature. ;)

This historical romance is a work of fiction revolving around the real events that happened at the White Swan on Vere Street in London in 1810. The White Swan was a molly house (gay club) that was raided by the police and a bunch of men were arrested and tried... This book does have some homosexual situations but it is not the main focus. The primary character in this story is Hester Aspinall.

We meet Hester as she is looking for her brother Robert who did not return home from going out the previous night. She is searching frantically for him deciding to go look at his place of business, a tailor shop he runs with two apprentices. Low and behold he is not there but while she’s there, she runs into the landlord, Thomas Ramsay. Thomas decides it’s in his best interest to help her find Robert. Soon it is revealed that he was thrown in jail after being arrested for his activities at the White Swan. Though we still have homophobia today, back then the general masses were outraged and those “guilty”, ostracised.

Hester has a very hard time trying to help Robert out. She has no family to turn to but finds help and understanding from Thomas. They grow closer together and have some sizzling moments.

“I would see you, silk caressing your skin, your breasts bare to my mouth, whilst you ride me. I would serve as your beast of burden, Hester. I would not complain if you flayed me with your nails or if you punished me by striking me. I would simply be content to serve, letting you take your pleasure again and again. I would watch as you rode me, and I would touch you until you screamed and broke apart and called my name with every stroke.”

Mostly this book revolves around Hester and Thomas but we do get a glimpse of what is happening with Robert.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a heartfelt story that deals with a subject that was taboo at the time. The main romance was wonderful. What I didn’t expect but was pleasantly surprised by was the secondary romance.

A great read for those of you who don’t mind a homoerotic edge. Some of us rather enjoy that!

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC!

I leave you with this...

“You have my heart. The rest doesn’t matter.”
