You know that book you read that you are so excited about that when you finish you run into your co-worker's office, book in hand, (Yes, I read on company time) and jump up and down until she gets off the phone and proceed to squeal with joy as she looks at you like she can't believe it's only 10:00 a.m. and you've already started drinking?....THIS IS THAT BOOK!!!!!



The story starts shortly after the ending of Divergent and Tris and "the gang" have fled from Abnegation and are on the run. After meeting up with the Factionless (who are surprisingly well organized), they decide to pay visit to the various other factions to see if they can drum up some kind of support to help in the war instigated by Erudite. While Tris is dealing with her feelings of guilt, loyalty, new love and a muriad of other conflicting feelings, their first stop is Amity (  AKA a Republican's worst nightmare). There they run into Marcus who lets them know that Erudite attacked Abnegation for a reason. A long time ago, Abnegation was entrusted with some extremely important information and Erudite wanted it. We do not find out this tidbit of info until the end of the book, but it's a doozy!!!!

Next stop, Candor... ( Side note: there is no way I could live here...If I had to be completely honest with my feelings about people I'd have zero friends and no job). There they run into Lynn, who has become one of my favorite characters in this book. While Tris is dealing with hostility from Christina and others over the death of Will, Lynn says the following line to Tris which cemented my respect for her:

" 'You are brave', she says.'You don't need me to say it, because you already know it.But I want you to know that I know.'
She is complimenting me, but I still feel like she has slapped me with something.
Then she adds, 'Don't mess it up!' "

I don't want to go into much more as there are many surprises along the way. However, I would be remiss in not mentioning Four/Tobias! God, I love this guy! Some of the sweetest moments occur between him and Tris. With the overwhelming gloom surrounding them, it makes it all the more precious. One of my favorite scenes between the two was this one:

" 'I love you', I say...........I am his and he is mine, and it has been that way all along.
He stares at me. I wait with my hands clutching his arms for stability as he considers his response.
He frowns at me. 'Say it again.'
'Tobias, I love you.' I say.
His skin is slippery with water and he smells like sweat and my shirt sticks to his arms when he slides them around me. He presses his face to my neck and kisses me right above the collarbone, kisses my cheek, kisses my lips.
'I love you, too,' he says.

I'm completely smitten with these two.

Insurgent ends in typical Veronica Roth fashion, with a cliffhanger. But a really, really good one, so it's impossible to be mad at her. I can't believe I have to wait another year for the final book, but if it's as good as this one then who cares.

Ok. Here goes.....

3 stars....yea, 3 feckn stars!! Never would have saw this shit coming but I should known since my girl Miss Vain gave it a 1! If I say too much it will spoil the surprise so Ill just wing it.

As others have said...this has nothing to do with Calla's choice. I would given this book a 4 maybe a 5 if certain events did not come to pass. I would say, but you'll just have to read this train wreck to understand! The ending I got it, knew it had to be done now that Iv thought about it but other things, not so much! There was plenty of action, suspense, betrayal and a love triangle for the ages. Do I recommend people to read this book?? Hells no! Not if you haven't read the first two! If you've never read Nightshade, don't even thing about it. If you do, don't say I didnt warn you. Andrea Cremer really screwed me over and Im so GLAD that I got an Arc from my Terrible girls or else I would be beyond livid! This was like, burn-the -book-throw-it-out-the-window horrible, terrible....BULL fucking SHIT!

If you've read the previous books...Im so sorry for ya! Cuz once you read this drivel....you'll be right with me!

All in all, what started out as a promising YA paranormal series at its best, turned out to be a sick joke...Ha ha ha Andrea thanks for nothing!

Starting over sucks.


When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.


And then he opened his mouth.


Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.


The hot alien living next door marks me.


You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.


If I don’t kill him first, that is.


Obsidian was amazing! Daemon was a beautiful asshole! Katy totally kicked ass! Aliens are awesome!!


Seriously though, bravo Jennifer! You've done it again! Who woulda thought aliens could be so cool!! How have I fallen in love with Daemon?? He was a complete ass most of the book...but I did! His first meeting with Katy had me wanting to punch him:


For a moment, all I could do was stare at him. He was probably the hottest guy I’d ever seen in real life, and he was a total douche. Go figure. “You know, all I wanted was directions. This is obviously a bad time.” One side of his lips curled up.
“Anytime is a bad time for you to come knocking on my door, kid.”
“Kid?” I repeated, eyes widening. A dark, mocking eyebrow arched again. I was starting to hate that brow. “I’m not a kid. I’m seventeen.”
“Is that so?” He blinked. “You look like you’re twelve. No. Maybe thirteen, but my sister has this doll that kinda reminds me of you. All big-eyed and vacant.”
I reminded him of a doll? A vacant doll? Warmth burned in my chest, spreading up my throat. “Yeah, wow. Sorry to bother you. I won’t be knocking on your door again. Trust me.”


And the animosity just goes downhill from there. Katy meets Dee....Daemon's sister. Throughout the entire book Daemon and Katy fight their feelings for each other and Daemon continues to be a complete and utter ass to Katy. But its for her own good. I won't say exactly why...u gotta read to find out. But at the end I did start to see how he really felt about her and it became apparent in this scene:


What am I doing? If they find out what I’ve done…but I can’t lose her. I can’t. I gasped for air, floored by the knowledge that I was hearing Daemon’s thoughts. He was talking to me—not like before when he was in his true form. This was different, like his thoughts and feelings were dancing around mine. Fear beat at me, as did something softer, even more powerful than fear. Please. Please. I can’t lose you. Please open your eyes. Please don’t leave me.


I cannot wait to read the next one...why have you done this to me Jennifer??? This is an awesome new series that you've gotta check out!! Now!!


The last line of this book was priceless:


A smile parted his lips. “You do realize I love a challenge?” I laughed under my breath and turned back to the front door, giving him a one-fingered salute. “So do I, Daemon. So do I.”


Let the cat and mouse game begin!

Holy Feckin Cliffhanger!! Thats all I can say!! This one was slower than the others but, I missed Clary and the gang so it wasn't that bad. The reall good stuff was at the end though. Jace was so down on himself in this one, but it is to be expected. His whole world is up side down. He really doesn't know who he is and it's going to take some time. Hopefully not too much time cuz he was pissing me the fuck off! I want my wise cracking, sarcastic, kick ass Jace back!! And I want him now ::Stops Feet::


All in all, I liked it a lot aside from Jace and his whining! Ok...I still loved it! Can't wait til the next one!
