Alpha Males, Bad Boys, Bring it On!

photo image_zpsc8156fb6.jpg; Seventeen year old Lacey Hannigan knows that she's different from other people. Her ability to move things with her mind has made her an outcast, even in her own home. She hates the power that she has and wants nothing more than to be normal like everyone else. But when she is forced to run away from home or be sent to a hospital to be studied like some kind of science project, she has no choice but to rely on her telekinesis in order to survive on her own. She soon finds herself in more danger than she ever thought possible when she discovers that there are even stranger people than her in the world. Like Cole, a man with a deadly secret who has vowed to stop at nothing until he has her. And Jesse, who seems like the perfect man until she learns that he may not be who she thinks he is.

The unbelievable becomes reality when seemingly normal people shed their human skin for that of fur and prowl the streets at night looking for their next victim. Will Lacey's power be her saving grace or her doom?

TEAM COLE!!

Need I say more?

Wow! It's been a while since I've read a shifter novel....since reading the Shifter series by Rachel Vincent, I've been on the hunt for great shifter novels with Ms. Vincent's flair, drama and characters to obsess over. And a love triangle to boot? I'm all in! I love when I find one that sucks me in from the beginning and Growl most definitely fits the bill! Holy crap on a cracker! I'm sooo hooked! I mean more than Nightshade hooked....before the train wreck. I'm praying...please Ms. Pierson, don't break my heart! If this series lets me down like Bloodrose, I may never read again!

Totally kidding. Needless to say my fragile sensibilities may not be able to take it! I've gotta get my hands on Change...pronto!

This book is freaking great! Must read....Team Cole!

Iced up!

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning comes the first book in her hotly anticipated new urban paranormal trilogy, set in the world of her blockbuster Fever series.

The year is 1 AWC—After the Wall Crash. The Fae are free and hunting us. It’s a war zone out there, and no two days are alike. I’m Dani O’Malley, the chaos-filled streets of Dublin are my home, and there’s no place I’d rather be.

Dani “Mega” O’Malley plays by her own set of rules—and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the rare humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks—and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin—before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

My Review:

Iced (Fever, #6; Dani O'Malley, #1)Iced by Karen Marie Moning
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It was so awesome! Dancer is the shit and I really hope Dani stops being a pussy and talk to Mac! If she did she'd realize that Mac has forgiven her and knows that Rowena used her mojo to make Dani kill her sister. I love Mac and Dani together and Dani really needs Mac...she's like the mother/sister she's never had. She needs structure in this mad mad world.

Also....I really feel bad for Christian. Mac really fucked up when she gave him Unseelie...even though she believed she was saving his life. Poor Christian needs to not blame Mac for his condition she not known what she was doing. I really hate what he's becoming! He was really one of my favorite side characters and now he's a depraved, pedo-Unseelie Prince in transition and I loathe it. Since I listened to this on audio, it was quite disturbing hearing his inner monologue when thinking of 14year old Dani....wtf!

In addition....Alls I can say is RYODAN!! You can summon me to your office and bend me over your desk Any. Time. I daresay I'm leaning toward Ryo over Barrons....never though I would EVER feel that way but there it is in black and white. He's so much more feral and wild and I. Dig. It....fo sho!

All in all, I loved every second of this book!  Fantastic start to a series which I always new it would be! Karen Marie Moning is one of the most talented authors in this genre...probably all genres. I'm fucking DY-ING to read the next book in this series. Hopefully Dani inadvertently grows up a couple of years cuz call me crazy, but I want some kind of down n dirty moment with her and Ryodan. I really like Dancer and all but he's more of her best friend and/or someone for her to experiment with...although Ryodan and Christian will probably kill him....tehee! Great book, awesome on audio, I love Dani more now....didn't think I would, but there it is.

Soul Avenged Blog Tour

Welcome to my stop in the Soul Avenged Blog Tour! I must say that I'm super excited to introduce one of the male leads in this fantastic debut!

Meet Kane Walker

Breed:  Halfling (half human, half lycan)
Height:  6’2”
Eyes: Green
Hair:  Black

In his words:

Talk about shit luck … imagine leaving work one night only to find yourself in a stand-off with not one, but two eight foot tall half-breed, psychotic wolf wannabes, with maws set wide enough to tell you a story about razor sharp teeth just itching to tear through flesh.  And that’s just the beginning...  You wake up in a house full of demons whose sole existence is to effectively eliminate your kind from the planet without getting blood on their polished leather boots.

Yeah, welcome to Kane’s World, the twisted carnival of freaks, where you get your neck devoured and score a ticket to everlasting hell on earth.

On the up side, the female tormenter’s pretty hot and likes to parade around in skin-tight leather, dishing blue balls like a stripper at bible camp.  Too bad I’ve always been more of a sensitive lover, preferring a soft caress over a bitch slap across the face while my hands are cuffed to a bedpost all hours of the day.  I’m not one to complain though.  Hell, being held captive in a mansion of demons, ghouls and hellhounds does have its perks—time off work, lack of sensation in your limbs and nice break from normalcy.

Excerpt from Soul Avenged:

The door to the landing clicked, swinging inward, and Annabelle appeared, tray in hand, as usual.
“Shit!” Kane grabbed his slacks off the floor and held them up to shield his lower half.
“Oh, my!” Annabelle exclaimed, a frisky smile on her face.
The door to the bathroom opened, and Ayden stepped out, wearing a robe and drying her hair with a towel. Her gaze shifted left to right—to Annabelle’s face, Kane hiding his briefs. She glanced down at her robe, and Kane caught the flush of her cheeks.
“Annabelle,” he said, “this … isn’t …”
“No, I’m very sorry to interrupt.” A hiccup of laughter escaped Anna as she set the tray down on the bedside table.
“Anna, seriously, we didn’t do anything.” Ayden tugged the ties of her robe a little tighter.
“No need to explain, miss.” Her coy smile suggested otherwise as she hobbled toward the door in one of the fastest exits Kane had seen from her yet.
“Oh, that’s just great.” Ayden threw the brush onto the chair. “We’ll be on the National Enquirer by the time this friggin’ day is over. Do you know how much shit those guys are going to give me? And it’s all your fault.”
“My fault? You’re the one who decided to shower here. Doesn’t this palace have another bathroom somewhere in its fifty rooms?”
Her eye twitched. “What are you suggesting? That I showered here to give you some kind of peep show?”
“I wouldn’t suggest anything of the sort.” Kane threw his palms up as he spoke. “I just think it’s a little odd that you chose to shower in my bathroom, is all.”
“Your bathroom? Are you feeling all warm and cozy here?”
“Absolutely not. I wouldn’t dream of getting comfortable. That might upset the ice princess. And we wouldn’t want her to get upset.”
Her eyes narrowed on him. “Piss off.”
“Go to hell.”
Her hands shot to her hips. “I’ve been in hell ever since you showed up.”
“Oh …” Kane’s expression softened with amusement. “… I think hell welcomed you a long time ago, baby.”
“How dare you call me baby, you filthy wolf.”
“Lycan.”
She leaned forward. “Same damn thing, moron.”
Kane leaned in as well. “Actually, it isn’t. According to Annabelle, lycans can transform into any animal.”
“So, you’ve been getting chatty with Annabelle, have you?” She drew away from him. “Save your breath, she isn’t going to cry for you when I rip out your throat.”
“Oh, now you’re ripping my throat out? The other day you were severing my head from my spine.” He faked a grin. “Which is it, so I know what to wear that day?”
Ayden groaned. “God, you make me want to … to kill something.”
“Yeah, funny, I was never a violent person, myself, until I met you. I suddenly know how you feel.”
Her tone turned challenging. “Then do it.”
“Do what?”
“Try to kill me, wolf,” she said, nodding. “See what happens.”
“I wouldn’t think of hitting a woman.”
Irritation flickered in Ayden’s eyes.  Her fingers flexed at her sides. “Too bad because this woman constantly thinks of hitting you!” She swiped the brush from the chair and chucked it across the short distance.
Toward Kane’s head.
Giving less than a soft grunt at the impact, Kane raised his hand to his temple, where blood trickled out of a small cut from the metal prongs. “You’ve got the maturity of a toddler, you know that?”
Out of nowhere, her fist connected with his jaw. His face jerked with that one, and a growl ripped from his throat, the shift in his perception warning his eyes had turned.
She grinned, beckoning him with a flick of her wrist. “That’s it. Come on. Come get me, lycan.”
Something inside of Kane flowed like a current; it exploded, releasing a rush of pure adrenaline.
Hungry.
He lurched forward.
Her leg swung so quick he hardly had time to comprehend the blow to his stomach.
She followed it up with another thrust to the chest that sent him flying across the bed.
Pouncing on top of him, she straddled his body. Nails dug into his arms held at either side of his head.
Fuck yes.
Her strength was incredible. The animal inside of him yearned to rip her to pieces because of it, to revel in the victory of conquering it—conquering her.

Yuumm....thats just the tip of the iceburg for those two! You've gotta check out this one...its a must read for sure! Check out my review of Soul Avenged and don't forget to stop by the other stops on the tour and check out what else is in store!

Slaying Demons and taking Names

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It would never be better than this. Better than him. Reyes was the apex. It was all downhill from here. He was heaven and hell at once, angel and demon. I wondered how long I could keep him. How long I could call him mine.

I know I probably say this about every freakn Charley Davidson book but fuck it...Best of the friggin series! Charley is just straight up awesome sauce, Reyes was his usual oh so sexy self and I just couldn't put this thing down! Ignored everyone in my house and delved into the world of Charley and the gang!

Last time we saw Charley she was in pretty bad shape, being the victim of torture by the hands of that evil bastard Earl Walker. Now its two months later and she's still licking her wounds, hasn't left her apartment since that horrific day and has become obsessed with....**gasp** the Home Shopping Network of all things. Although she has a case of PTSD she still hasn't lost her sarcastic, and amusing quips. Cause come on....this is Charley we're talking about here!

"You're wrong. I'm not mad at myself. I'm great. I'm full of awesome sauce. Have you seen my ass?"

More drama ensues as we find out that in addition to her PTSD, mixed feelings for the enigmatic Reyes and Daddy issues, the Demons are coming for her. Earl's torture has changed Charlie dramatically, the once fearless vixen has since become terrified. So much so that she's not only become agoraphobic, but is sleep deprived and reeks of fear. Which is tantalizing to the Demons and are taking drastic measures to get her. Of course Reyes is having none of that as he hunts down the bastards responsible one filthy demon at a time.

In addition, Charley is taking on an intersting case, being hired by a girl who believes someone is trying to kill her. No one in her family believes her and this particular case hits home for Charley. The girl, Harper, is being stalked and has been terrorzied her entire life. Harper's bitchy and upitty stepmother harbors resentment toward the poor girl. As Charley investigates she begins to suspect the stepmother as the instigator in her plight.

“See. She is completely unstable. When she finally deigned us with her presence, she said she had been on the run for her life. Of all the ludicrous…” Mrs. Lowell shifted in irritation. “And now she hires a private investigator? She has gone over the edge.” I wrote the word psycho in my notebook, then scribbled it out before she saw. I was letting my own biases guide me on this case, and that would get me nowhere. Taking a mental step back, I took a deep breath and tried to see this from Mrs. Lowell’s perspective, as difficult as that might be. I didn’t often identify with rich bitches, but they were people, too. Weren’t they?

One of the things I loved most about this particular book was the progress of Charley and her sister Gemma. I love that the've reconciled and Gemma plays a big part in this one as she's trying to help Charley heal from her horrid ordeal. There were also some great dialog between the two especially the aftermath of the Maragita party she and Cookie had while trying to get Charley to get some rest.

Have you seen my pants?”

“Speaking of which, how did you get home without them?”

“I borrowed a pair of your sweats. I ran into a convenience store with them on. I talked to neighbors out in their yard when I pulled up. And only after I got inside did I realize they had ‘Exit Only’ written across the back.”

“You stole my favorite sweats?”

“I wanted to die.”

“It’s weird that sweats would make you suicidal. I’d analyze the crap out of that if I were you.”

Charley and Cookie together are a riot! She's the perfect contrast to Charley and her humor and their banter is just priceless! One should always have a friend like Cookie....I just love her!

“So, how was your day?”

“Well, I was in a bank robbery, taken hostage by the Gentlemen Thieves, almost arrested as an accessory, and had one of the most interesting evenings of my life. Speaking of which, did you know the nectar of the gods is in my va-jay-jay?”

It really takes a special person to deal with Charley and her off the wall comments and crazy antics. I swear I'll die when this series has to end....

Now back to the real issue at hand...Reyes! Since our fuckalicous hunk is out of the slammer, he's not only taking down demons and watching Charley in the shadows. Finally in a position to claim his woman, our boys not pulling any punches.

“There is a fine line between love and hate, or haven’t you heard? Sometimes it’s hard to decipher exactly which emotion is strongest.”

I raised my chin. “I don’t love you either.”

He lowered his head and watched me from underneath his dark lashes. “Are you certain? Because the emotion pouring out of you every time I’m near you is certainly not disinterest.”

“That doesn’t mean it’s love.”

“It could be, I promise you. Take off that sweater and give me ten minutes, and you’ll believe beyond a shadow of a doubt you’re in love.”

There are lots of smexy interactions with Charley that just had me panting for more and Charley doesn't stand a chance against his charms. And who does she think she's fooling? She knows she can't resist Reyes...who the hell could or would in any capacity? I know I wouldn't.

“For one week, all I could think about was drinking margaritas--well, that and running my tongue along Reyes's teeth--but I didn't have salt--or Reyes's teeth. I'd also lacked the energy to leave my apartment to get some--or the desire to stoop low enough to beg Reyes to let me lick his teeth after what he did--so I could only wish for a margarita. And dream of Reyes's teeth."

All in all, fanfuckingtastic addition to the series! Losts of action, drama and a sex scene that had me panting like a schoolgirl! If you're a fan of the series, get your asses out there and get this book! It really is the best so far and each book just gets better and better! I am dying to get my hands on
Fifth Grave Past the Light. Charley and Reyes are the epitome of most epic couple eva!!

He turned onto his side, rested his head on an arm, and put a large hand across my belly. With a mischievous grin that transformed his handsome face into that of an angel’s, he asked, “Do you know where the gods keep their nectar?”

I narrowed my eyes in suspicion, and said, “No idea.”

His hand slid down my stomach and between my legs. I sucked in a sharp breath as he leaned in and whispered in my ear, “Let me show you.”

After two more explorations of our stamina, a shared roast beef sandwich, a shower, and another exploration of our stamina, we lay on my bed, entangled in sheets and towels. Reyes wrapped me in his arms and was almost asleep when I said, “Who knew that all this time the nectar of the gods was in my va-jay-jay?”
