Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme sharing releases we cant wait to get our hands on! Hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine.

Fans of Darynda Jones and her Charley Davidson series will know how I feel about her upcoming YA series about a high school girl and the mysterious disappearance of her parents. Death and the Girl Next Door is the first book in Ms. Jones "Darklight" series and if it's anything like her previous books, then I CANNOT wait to discover what new characters she has created.

Death and the Girl Next Door (Darklight #1)

by Darynda Jones

From the author of The New York Times bestselling series that began with First Grave on the Right—a thrilling Young Adult novel garnering high praise and early buzz from major authors.

Ten years ago, Lorelei's parents disappeared without a trace. Raised by her grandparents and leaning on the support of her best friends, Lorelei is finally beginning to accept the fact that her parents are never coming home. For Lorelei, life goes on.

High school is not quite as painful as she thinks it will be, and things are as normal as they can be. Until the day the school's designated loner, Cameron Lusk, begins to stalk her, turning up where she least expects it, standing outside her house in the dark, night after night. Things get even more complicated when a new guy—terrifying, tough, sexy Jared Kovach—comes to school. Cameron and Jared instantly despise each other and Lorelei seems to be the reason for their animosity. What does Jared know about her parents? Why does Cameron tell Jared he can't have Lorelei? And what will any of them do when Death comes knocking for real?

Thrilling, sassy, sexy, and inventive, Darynda Jones's first foray into the world of teens will leave readers eager for the next installment.

My review of Wings of Fire

Teaser Tuesday

This weeks teaser comes from a great book that a lot of people have been ranting and raving about so I figured I'd give it a go! Its pretty good so far...here's a scene that stood out the most so far and pulled at my heart strings a bit!

Synopsis----->

He lightly shook his head and retreated another half step. "Kiera....let me go. You don't want this..." he whispered. "Go back inside, go back to Denny." He moved his hand to pull me off his arm, but I smacked it away. The word slipped out before I could stop it. "Stay."

"Please, Kiera, go," he whispered, his beautiful eyes suddenly glistening, his perfect face torn.

"Stay, please. Stay with me," I begged quietly, my voice breaking on the last word. I didn't know what I was saying. I just couldn't bear the thought of never seeing him again.

One single tear rolled down his cheek and the thing inside me broke completely.

Welcome to Hell....

New series by Eve Langlais and she just released the cover Saturday on Facebook! Isn't it yummy?!

Burning alive is nothing compared to the heat of his touch.

Roasted at the stake as a witch, while her lover watches, Ysabel sells her soul to the devil in return for revenge. A fair trade until her ex-boyfriend escapes the bowels of Hell and she’s forced to team up with a demon to fetch the jerk back.
Remy’s seen a lot of things during his long tenure in Lucifer’s guard, but nothing can prepare him for the witch with the acerbic tongue--and voluptuous figure. Her mouth says ‘Screw you’, but her body screams ‘Take me’. What’s a poor demon to do when his heart makes things even more complicated by goading him to make her his, forever?
Before he can decide if his demonizing days are done though, he needs to catch the bad guys, save the girl and then find a way to convince her to love him and not kill him.

Welcome to Hell where you’re screwed if you do and damned if don’t. And just so you know, Lucifer’s got a special spot reserved for you…

Q: You are a matchmaker — your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

HeatherJay's Answer: I'd choose Charley Davidson (Charley Davidson Series) and Bones (Night Huntress Series). First of all, it would be an absolute nightmare. They would constantly be one-upping each other with smart-ass comments and it would be EPIC....

Disco and Bloodsuckers

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme sharing releases we cant wait to get our hands on! Hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine.

This week Im eagerly anticipating book 3 in the Rhiannon's Law series by J.A.Saare...The Ripple Effect!

There is always a price to pay…

Rhiannon Murphy visited the future, witnessed hell on earth and made choices to change things for the greater good. Unfortunately there are consequences for her actions, the penalties for her interference possibly more than she can bear. Determined to sever her debt with a fallen angel, she pushes everything aside, focusing on locating Marigold Vesta’s resting place.

Until death comes knocking at her door.

When Disco’s maker arrives in New York, he resents Rhiannon on a level she can’t begin to comprehend. Yet Marius isn’t her most dangerous adversary, not by a long shot. Marius’s sire -- a half-demon -- is determined to see the necromancer who stunned the vampire world on her knees. If she won’t bend, he’ll do everything in his power to make her break. No price is too high, meaning no one is safe -- including Disco and Paine.

Dealt a blow from which she can never recover, Rhiannon turns to the only person who can help her: the fallen angel who is relying on Rhiannon to save her soul. Bartering with a creature from Heaven is probably just as dangerous as starting a war with a demon from Hell, but with nothing to lose it’s no longer about life or death.

It’s about getting even

Releases July 31st 2012; Mundania Press

This week I found out that the next book in The Dorina Basarab series is FINALLY coming out. I've been waiting three years for this puppy so I'm completely psyched.

Fury's Kiss (Dorina Basarab #3)

by Karen Chance

Dorina Basarab is a dhampir—half-human, half-vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. But so far, Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing...
Dory is used to fighting hard and nasty. So when she wakes up in a strange scientific lab with a strange man standing over her, her first instinct is to take his head off. Luckily, the man is actually the master vampire Louis-Cesare, so he’s not an easy kill.

It turns out that Dory had been working with a Vampire Senate task force on the smuggling of magical items and weaponry out of Faerie when she was captured and brought to the lab. But when Louis-Cesare rescues her, she has no memory of what happened to her.

To find out what was done to her—and who is behind it—Dory will have to face off with fallen angels, the maddest of mad scientists, and a new breed of vampires that are far worse than undead
